THE NATIONAL TRANSPORTATION INSTITUTE NAMES LAWRENCE TRANSPORTATION AS TOP PAY CARRIER
Company announces increase to owner operator compensation program

July 7, 2015 (Roanoke, Va.) – The company was recently named a Top Pay Carrier for 2014 by the National Transportation Institute. In conjunction with this distinguished achievement, Lawrence Transportation announced significant pay increases for its owner operators.
Effective July 1, 2015 the standard owner operator mileage rate will increase to $1.03 per mile and the northeast mileage rate to $1.07. The performance rate will increase up to 4 cents per mile in addition to those rates. The deadhead rate will also increase to $1.03 per mile.

“It is a privilege to be selected by The National Transportation Institute as a Top Pay Carrier for 2014,” said Ron Spangler, CEO for Lawrence Transportation Systems Inc. “Our ability to attract and retain quality drivers is based on providing high mileage and weekends at home. This, combined with the Top Pay Carrier recognition, has allowed us to achieve this continued success.”

To earn this prestigious award, carriers need to qualify in three categories: top-tier pay, health and retirement benefits, and carrier stability. NTI considers these categories to be the most influential in making professional driving a rewarding and secure career choice. The organization ranks these evaluation results against other carriers in the industry, thereby creating a select group of top-paying carriers.

“We are excited to welcome Lawrence Transportation Inc. to the elite ranks of those fleets designated as a Top Pay Carrier by The National Transportation Institute,” said Gordon Klemp, principal of NTI. “While some carriers may have high performance pay, benefits or a retirement program, only the best of the best offer exceptional industry-leading plans in all three categories. The result of our three-phased evaluation is drivers can match themselves with a certified Top Pay Carrier who offers more than a job; they offer a secure career choice. Drivers working for or considering working for Lawrence can be assured that NTI has performed an exhaustive review of their driver pay, driver benefits and retirement programs and determined them to be exceptional.”

In addition to the pay increases, owner-operators at Lawrence will receive competitive occupational accident insurance with no administrative cost and weekly pay. Driver benefits include excellent home time, advances on loads, 50 % drop and hook, 100 % fuel surcharge, performance bonus, 98 % no touch and a 24/7 breakdown line.
